Brussels, Belgium, 20th November 2009 -- After five years, 192 countries, 300 schools, and the participation of 18,000 children, Art in all of Us (AiA) is proud to launch the World Art Book. This book represents the world through the eyes of children. Each of the 192 UN-member countries is presented in the book through a portrait, a poem and a drawing. The philosophy of this book is to encourage the right of every child to freedom of expression, as outlined by Article 13 of the Children Rights Convention which celebrates its 20th anniversary.
Mrs. Ann Veneman, Executive Director of UNICEF, honored Art in All of Us by writing the foreword of this beautiful book. In her foreword, she says that "This extraordinary book is and adventure into the creative minds of children. (...) The result is a colorful ensemble of creative pieces from around the world - from Belgium to Benin - that reflect the uniqueness of each background yet also the similarities that run through childhood."
"From the perspectives of the young citizens represented in this book, we hope to empower a global understanding between cultures, generations and individuals, which we believe will lead to building greater tolerance and cross cultural understanding, amongst children and adults", said Anthony Asael, Founder and Executive Director of AiA.
The profits from the sale of the World Art Book, will help support AiA in their ambitious plan to grow, expand, and continue their work in educating the world's youth through art.
A conference will be organized by the founders of AIA at 20:30 on the 11th of December at the Cercle de Voyageurs, 18 rue des Grands Carmes, in Brussels. The conference will be preceded at 18:30 by an autograph session by the authors of the book.
No less than 17 events related to the World Art Book (See www.artinallofus.org/news/exhibition.html) will be organized in 5 countries (Belgium, USA, UK, Luxembourg and Switzerland) to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the CRC. The kick-off to this world tour was given by Mrs. Ann Veneman at the UNICEF headquarters in New York, in the presence of UNICEF's ambassador Lucy Liu.
