NEW YORK, NY- December 1st 2007- Art in All of Us (AiA), an organization that promotes tolerance and creativity through developing artistic expression of some children of the world, has been invited to speak at the Education for Global Citizens Forum at Harvard University in Cambridge Massachusetts. The non-profit organization will be coming to the table within the laboratory of leading global initiatives in education.
The forum, entitled "Building Bridges to Understanding: The Rise of Global Citizenship Education Initiatives in the U.S. and the U.K" is hosted by Harvard University Graduate School of Education, a student organization committed to raising awareness about the importance of education for responsible global citizenship. The goal of the conference, to advance current education initiatives and global citizenship, are encompassed in the mission statement of Art in All of Us.
"Supporting youth in becoming responsible global citizens is one of the most salient challenges put to educators today. The goal of the 2007 'Building Bridges to Understanding' conference at Harvard is to bring together leaders in the field of education who are committed to promoting global citizenship education inside and outside of the classroom, in order to share best practices and discuss ways to effectively influence policy," says Therese Condit, the forum's organizer.
Phil Micali, an Art in All of Us International Advisory Board Member, based in New York relays his excitement: "It is a huge honor for Art in All of Us to be recognized by Harvard University as a leading and creative actor in the Global Citizenship Education sector."
The vision of AiA is to educate through Art while promoting cross boundaries multicultural understandings and exchanges. Education for Global Citizenship is a must today for that the adults of tomorrow respect and value diversity. The 3 programs of AiA endorse that philosophy:
- The AiA Awareness Program introduces multicultural exchanges and knowledge during visits into schools by introducing photographic and other interactive cultural activities.
- The AiA World Art Book Program presents in a book each and every one of the 192 UN-listed countries through a photograph, as well as a poem and a drawing composed by a local child.
- The AiA Art Pen Pal Program promotes artistic communication between children on different continents as well as from neighboring countries.
The children's photographs, which capture the pure joy evoked from these children through the programs, illustrates the importance of such educational tactics. There is exponential talent in the children of the world, and AiA serves as an outlet and a guide to bring out the children's ideas and voice. The awareness and appreciation for Art in All of Us is increasing.
Backed by UNICEF in New York, Art in All of Us has already visited 151 countries, and over 10,000 children in 200+ schools with plans to visit at least one school of the 192 UN countries by the end of 2008.
